Eye exams include:
- Microscopic examination of the external structures (eyelids, cornea, etc., and a check for cataracts)
- Examination of the retina, optic nerve, and blood vessels
- Examination to detect glaucoma, if present
- Examination to determine eye muscle balance and focusing ability
- A refraction to determine weather or not corrective glasses or contact lenses are indicated
